How to record Voice Prompts on Wave.

The voice prompts area is where all recorded messages for outgoing voicemail messages and voice
prompts on the account are stored.

To get started, you will need to login to your account. If you are unsure on how to do this please follow the  How to Login to your Wave Control Panel  guide.

Managing Voice Prompts

Once logged in, you need to first click on Messaging > Recorded Voice Files.

You will be sent to the page where you can see all your recorded voice prompts. To create a new prompt, click on .

There are three ways of adding the personalised prompt:

  • Upload a File – Use this to upload a prerecorded WAV file. It must be less than 8MB.
  • Record Via Phone – Dial 188 from a VoIP phone, or 0870 861 6662 from a landline telephone. Follow the instructions, and enter the PIN code shown next to your prompt when requested
  • Record Via Browser – You can use the microphone connected to your PC to record a message.

 

Upload a File


If you wish to use this method, select ‘Upload a file’. You can only upload WAV audio files to be used as voice prompts, and they must be less than 8MB.

When you’ve created an acceptable WAV file please click on the ‘ ‘ icon to complete the upload.

When your voice prompt has been successfully uploaded you will see this screen.

Your voice prompt will also show on this list and you will be able to listen to your prompt

 

Please note that it can take up to 15 minutes for your voice prompt to be fully uploaded and available across your account.

Record via Phone

This option enables you to quickly record your desired message using your VoIP phone, landline or mobile. To start Select Record via phone on the create new voice prompt screen.

 

Click ‘Next Step’ to continue. Next you will see the section on how to record your prompt. It explains that to record your message you can call 188 from your VoIP phone or 0870 861 6662 from another phone.

The automated message will ask for the pin listed on this screen, which you need to input into your phone before recording your message. This in this example is 996 919 778.

 

 

Next click on Finish and return to voice prompts.
This will return you to the main Voice Prompts page. If you have not recorded your message, you will see the prompt, along with the 9-digit PIN.

 

When you have recorded your prompt, the status will state ‘Recorded’ and you will have a recording to preview.

 

 

Record via Browser

If you have a microphone attached to your PC, you can choose this option. It enables you to simply record your voicemail from your browser.

 

The following recording screen will appear next.  To record your message simply press start recording.

 

 

When you have finished recording, click on .  Your recording will now appear as below. You can play your message back to check it for reference. When you have decided that the recording is acceptable, and you wish to upload it click on .

When your voice prompt has been successfully uploaded you will see this screen.

Finally, you can see the following and your voice prompt is uploaded and ready to use.

Now you have uploaded your voice prompts, you will have to set up the voicemail or routing option you wish to use it with.
